Learn Mobile Game Development in 1 Day Using Gamesalad

I’ve been writing my first Gamesalad related book for the last few months and have just completed the first rough draft of the entire thing. The working title is “Learn Mobile Game Development in 1 Day Using Gamesalad”. Right now it stands at 58,096 words! I guess it’s time to knuckle down and start the cleanup and proof reading stage!

Graphene SDK

Graphene SDK

Gamesalad made a big announcement yesterday on their forums, they are working on a new game development environment called Graphene SDK. This will be a second product, they will still develop, sell, and support Gamesalad Creator.

Graphene is described as:

Graphene is like GameSalad on steroids. We took everything we learned building GameSalad Creator and blended it with over 60 years of professional game development experience to create a fantastic tool for building games. It’s got a new engine, new interface, powerful coding features, native plugin support, and more! The new engine is the same one used to build games like Draw Something, Udder Destruction, and Jangle. It’s fast, flexible, and battle-tested.

I’m very excited about this new product and look forward to learning more about it as more information becomes available. I’ve signed up to be a beta tester and hope to hear the good word on that soon. If you want to sign up as well you can do so at the website.

If you’d like a little more information on Graphene you can follow the discussion on the Gamesalad forums.

My next Game Development Kit will be a great set of Labyrinth game elements that you can just drag and drop to build your own levels and mazes and quickly produce a full labyrinth game in Gamesalad. I’ve just about completed all of the coding and am working through creating all of the graphics.

Full Platform Game Template

I’ve decided to use most of the content I’ve detailed in my Platformer Tutorial series and build a fully functional Platformer Game Template. It’s coming along really well and I’m super happy about how all the individual pieces I’ve covered over time fit together nicely and all work together pretty smoothly. I hope to have it complete and available in a month or so. As I get more done I’ll try to post some screen shots or videos of how it comes along.

1000 Subscribers to my youTube Channel!

2

I just got 1000 subscribers to my youTube channel! Considering when I released my first Gamesalad tutorial I never even really thought anyone would bother watching It’s kind of crazy that my videos have had thousands and thousands of views and I’ve reached 1000 subscribers to my channel! Certainly exciting too! I’m glad people are finding some value in what I have to teach, and I look forward to crossing the 2000 subscriber barrier!  :)

Thanks for watching everyone!

1 Year on the Apple App Store!

30

Well it’s been just about a full year since I released my first app on the Apple App Store so in honor of that milestone I thought I’d break down how my game Neon-Asteroid Blaster! has performed. So many times on the Gamesalad forums people will ask questions like:

“How much can I make from ads in my game?”

“How many downloads will my game get?”

“Do people buy paid apps?”

“When will I get rich!?”

So here are the gory details on what I have experienced in my first year on the app store. This is just my experience with a simple clone of the classic game Asteroids so keep that in mind as you read on.
